Why We Built This Site
Virginia does not place every part of a criminal history in one open database. Fairfax County Police holds the reports its officers create, while the Sheriff maintains Adult Detention Center booking and confinement records. General District and Circuit Court clerks preserve filed charges and outcomes. Statewide identity-based records run through the Virginia Department of State Police, and corrections or registry information has separate official systems. We assembled the verified request routes, office contacts, search fields, and access limits so readers can select the source that answers their question.
What You Will Find Here

- Official check steps: how Virginia name-based and fingerprint-supported routes work through the state repository
- Agency contacts: how to reach Fairfax police custodians, the Sheriff, court clerks, and statewide record systems
- Record relief basics: where Virginia expungement and sealing requests begin and which office must process an order
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a Virginia court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We cannot issue a certified court file, rap sheet, arrest report, or other official record
- We cannot submit a Virginia FOIA request, expungement petition, sealing petition, or other filing for you
- We cannot perform an official criminal-history check for any person
- We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, or case as legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency's fee, hours, address, or procedure has not changed
An official copy must come from its Virginia custodian, such as the Fairfax court clerk, the Sheriff's Office, the arresting police agency, or the Virginia Department of State Police.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes shown on some pages. They control their services, results, data practices, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that helps support this resource. We do not set the provider's charge or decide which results it returns.
